Canadian Martial Arts School Helping Make a Difference

Our friends over at Swift Current Christian Tae Kwon Do Club were recently awarded the  first place prize in the “Breaking Boards, Breaking Chains” fundraising event that took place this year. Swift Current Christian Tae Kwon Do Club was only one of over 15 martial arts schools who organized break-a-thons to collect pledges to raise funds for the initiative.

The board breaking event helped raise money for The International Justice Mission, who focus on four key areas — to rescue victims of abuse, to restore survivors, to bring criminals to justice and to strengthen the justice systems in countries where abuse happens.

IJM’s casework during 2013 resulted in the provision of aftercare services to 4,000 survivors of violence and their families. A total of 381 suspects were arrested and there were 153 convictions against rapists, slave owners and other violent criminals.

You can read more about it here.
